I collected what was considered to be the most important events in C.S Lewis's life and put them here. Sources included my book about C.S Lewis, "Jack: A Life of CS Lewis", Online resources and our textbooks located in the library.
1898 - Born to Albert Lewis
1908 - Clive's mother passes away because of Cancer.
- Enrolled in Wynard School (Refered to as "Oldie's School" or "Belsen" by CS Lewis.
1910 - Enrolled in Campbell College Boarding School.
1911 - Moved to Malvern, England because of respiratory problems.
- Abandons Christian faith.
1914 - Meets life long friend Arthur Greeves
1917 - Enrolled in Oxford College
- Roommates with Paddy Moore (son of Lewis's soon to be *replacement* mother)
- WW1 Outbreaks, Commissioned as an officer of 3rd Battalion Somerset Infantry.
He went on the front lines of France on his 19th birthday.
1919 - Paddy Moore, Friend and roommate, killed in action.
1920 - CS Lewis moves to leave with Paddy Moore's Mother.
- Retires from Military.
1920 -1928 - Wrote an essay that wont he Chancellors Award Prize, served as tutor.
- Elected as a "Fellow" of Magdalen College, Oxford.
- Tutors at Oxford.
1929 - Clive Staples Lewis becomes a theist. "
In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed….”
Albert Lewis died on September 24.
1931 - Lewis becomes a Christian.
1933 - First Inklings Meeting.
1941 - Lewis writes the Screwtapes letters and gives his only four live radio talks over BBC.
1942 - First Socratic Club was held at Oxford.
1945 - Charles Williams, Lewis's very close friend dies.
1950 - Narnia released.
1951 - Mrs.Moore dies.
1955 - Resumes work at Cambridge, elected Honorary Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, and also
elected Fellow at British Academy.
1956 - Lewis marries Joy so that she is no longer at threat of being deported. Joy is thought of being very near death.
1958 - Joy recovers from here near terminal cancer.
1960 - When in Greece with Lewis and Rodger Joy dies at the age of 45, not returning from Greece.
1963 - CS Lewis Dies (On the same day of the Kennedy assassination) at the age of 65.
